Inequality in pay is something that is in the public eye frequently. What amazes me is that there is never a debate on the wider issues associated with this. Yes, I am the first to say that men and women should be paid the same for the same job. What mystifies me, is that these stories are never backed up with a specific example. Not one single example. It's very simple, each time this issue is discussed, back it up with a proven example. But broadcasters, seemingly, are unable to do so.
I do not profess for one minute that there aren't issues with this regard, but back it up! It's simple, It's as easy as ABC. Show us the evidence. Or do we just have to accept it because it is reported or cited by somebody.
In all my years working in both the public and private sector of recruitment, I know for a fact that this is just simply not an issue. So where is it? Tell me please? It's really important because so much kudos is given to the subject like every worker should hang their head (or his head) in shame.
In my organisation, a junior colleague was promoted to my senior level and received a very large pay rise to boot. Brilliant, I was really pleased for her. It did cross my mind that the differing levels of experience should be reflected in salaries, but I am not pompous, make no assumptions and believe in equality far more than any so called feminist. But, I have served many years, been rewarded for my hard work and innovation and therefore assume that anybody brought to my position would be at the starting block and not given the exact same salary. Why should they? Why should they leapfrog over my achievements? They should have to prove the same abilities as me. They should not be so conceited to suggest that possessing a vagina somehow means they don't have to achieve likewise surely? In this instance, what was obvious following her dismissal, that she was indeed earning almost the same as me with 20 + years more experience. It's at such times that the so called feminist lobby shut their vile mouths up. After all, this would then put me in the disadvantage and there equality boundaries only include equality and superseding vaginas.
Yes to outing the true inequality, yes to addressing it and no to creating inequality as a result. Because those seeking it haven't got the vaginas to think beyond their own personal agendas.
