How I laughed at the BBC on Friday. Oh! I don't think I mentioned it before. I simply adore the BBC. I think it is one of the best things about my country! (oh how un-PC) But in its report on stalking, it was so clear that the agenda was demonizing men. The reporter said that almost 1 in 4 women (23%) are the victims of a stalker(serious face). She then said the figure for men was 13% but they questioned the validity of the source of information(Less serious more relaxed face.)
Hang on a minute! 13% of men are the victims of it. Why question the validity of the source? WTF is that all about? Are men calling in to the BBC to complain? Of course not. I refer to previous posts on mens apathy which I abhor. (Note I didn't say some!) This kind of shit should be challenged. I mean I think broadcasters and newspapers have a right to address the balance. Where are these one in four women? I mean I know countless women. Not one of them has complained about being stalked. Where do they get their figures from? For example:
I am watching BBC news as I write. The story is about the 'majority; of people in Berwick upon Tweed want to be part of Scotland. The usual rhetoric but the interesting point is that they actually said they asked 1,900 people. So hardly a reflection of the fact but it still makes the news. Oh 1,100 want to be part of Scotland and 700 of those asked want to remain in England.
If you're a man and 'lucky' enough to be approached and asked for your opinion on anything do spare the time to re-address the balance. But I have to say, nobody really believes a word of such reports as the source is managed and people know that people lie!
